Latest ATM News: New High Speed Component Taping System Available From ATM
April 19, 1999. Glenolden, PA
American Tech Manufacturing, Inc. (ATM) recently announced the availability of a new taping system for various SMD components. The ATP-7K offers high processing speed, precision device placement in pockets, and accurate and repeatable sealing, all with the standard ATM reliability. This flexible unit can process SOIC, SSOP, TSOP, TSSOP, QSOP, VSOP, SOJ, and PLCC devices at throughputs up to 7,000 units per hour.
The new ATP-7K taping system processes devices from a single tube stack to tape. It incorporates a device singulator, a high-speed pick and place head, and independent seal temperature and pressure controls under computer control. A database of device parameters includes programmable settings for seal time, temperature, pressure, and pitch as well as parts per reel, and trailer and leader lengths for each device type. The sealing shoes are interchangeable for PSA cover tape applications. The system is controlled by Windows based software with an easy-to-use graphical interface.
Two vision based inspection options are available for the ATP-7K with one module performing "In-pocket" and a second providing "In-line" inspection for mark, pin 1 orientation, and lead inspection. Both vision inspection options can be either factory installed or added after the system is already in use on site.
